No One is Above the Law: The Fight to Prosecute Shawn Tyler Freeman

Stand with us in our battle against injustice as we uncover the misconduct and criminal conduct carried out by Mesa SWAT Operator Shawn Freeman, as well as the officials who have assisted him in concealing his criminal activities and avoiding accountability.

The Ongoing Controversy Surrounding Mesa Police Officer Shawn Freeman

The Mesa Police Department is under scrutiny for backing Officer Shawn Freeman amidst accusations of murder, domestic violence, assault, child abuse, disorderly conduct, stalking, harassment, DUI, endangerment, and other serious criminal offenses. The reports of misconduct Shawn Freeman committed at home raised substantial concerns about Officer Freeman's abilities as a Law Enforcement Officer.

Mesa Police Chief Ken Cost, Arizona POST, The Mayor of Mesa John Giles, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, and others have continuously failed to address Officer Shawn Freeman's repeated instances of violent misconduct committed both on and off duty.

Accountability Matters: Addressing Officer Freeman's Behavior for a Safer Community

The Mesa Police Department seems to operate under a double standard, where rules apply to everyone except for their own officers. If Shawn Freeman did not have a badge, he would likely face charges for various offenses such as disorderly conduct, assault, dissuasion, witness tampering, harassment, violations of a protective order, falsifying police reports, perjury, criminal damage, domestic violence, endangerment, attempted murder, child abuse, fraud, murder and more.

Despite Officer Freeman's well-documented misconduct, Mesa Police Chief Ken Cost made the choice to turn a blind eye, which allowed for new allegations to surface, including Freeman filing falsified police reports, committing perjury, receiving use-of-force complaints, the fatal shooting of an unarmed man, and more.

Maricopa County District Attorney Rachel Mitchell, Mesa Mayor John Giles, and Mesa Police Chief Ken Cost must put an end to their support of police misconduct and ensure that officers are held accountable under the law just like any other individual. The existence of a double standard in this regard is unjust and should not be tolerated.

Upholding Justice: The Mesa Police Department's Responsibility in Addressing Officer Misconduct

The failure to address Officer Shawn Freeman's violent and criminal behavior not only reflects poorly on the Mesa Police Department but also undermines the public's confidence in law enforcement.

It is imperative for Chief Cost and the relevant authorities to take swift and appropriate action to address these serious allegations and ensure that officers are held accountable for their actions, regardless of their position within the department. Upholding the principles of justice and fairness is essential in maintaining the integrity of the police force and fostering positive relationships with the community they serve.

The ability of Officer Freeman to abuse his authority without repercussions underscores the urgent need for increased oversight and transparency within the Mesa Police Department. It is crucial that law enforcement officers are held to the same standards as any other citizen, and that they are not above the law.

The public has a right to expect integrity and ethical conduct from those who are tasked with protecting and serving their communities, and any breach of that trust must be met with full force of the law.

If you have knowledge of any instances of police misconduct, brutality, or criminal activity by law enforcement in our community, don’t stay silent.

You can submit a report to the DOJ and the FBI online, and even though Mesa Police Internal Affairs rarely disciplines its officers for wrongful behavior, you can still try to file a complaint here.
